Last updated: August 28, 2026
Operator: AMP Media (“AMP Media,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), doing business as Beehive Open App: Beehive Open (iOS / PWA), bundle ID co.ampmedia.beehiveopen Website: beehiveopen.com Contact: anders@ampmedia.co · Salt Lake City, UT, USA
This Privacy Policy explains what information Beehive Open collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Beehive Open mobile app (including TestFlight and App Store builds), the web app at beehiveopen.com, and related services.
We do not sell your personal information.
1. Information we collect
Account and profile
When you create or use an account, we collect information you provide, such as:
- Name and display name
- Team / group membership
- Login credentials and authentication identifiers (via Firebase Authentication)
Golf scoring and event data
To run tournaments and show leaderboards, we collect and store:
- Scores, hole-by-hole results, related stats, and who last posted or edited a score
- Event / round participation
- Announcements you receive or that organizers post in the app
Location (precise GPS)
With your permission, we collect precise location data while you use the app’s hole map so we can show where you are on the course.
- Location is used only for on-course map features (for example, placing you on the hole map).
- We do not use your location for advertising.
- You can deny or later revoke location permission in iOS Settings. If you decline, map features that need your position may not work; other parts of the app remain available.
Photos and videos
If you send media in chat (or similar in-app messaging), we collect the photo or video you choose to upload. Media is stored in Firebase Storage and associated with your account / conversation so other participants in that chat can view it. We do not access your photo library except when you pick an item to send.
Chat and messaging content
We collect the text and media you send in in-app chat so messages can be delivered to other participants and retained as part of the event experience.
If you search GIFs in Chat, the terms you type are sent to Giphy to return results. GIFs you send (attached or from that search) are stored like other chat media.
Push notifications
If you allow notifications, we collect a device push token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can send you tournament updates, announcements, and other app-related alerts. You can turn notifications off in iOS Settings at any time.
Device and technical data
We and our service providers may automatically collect limited technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as:
- Device type, OS version, and app version
- Approximate network / connection info
- Crash and diagnostic logs
- IP address (as processed by our hosting and auth providers)
- Analytics events (pages/screens, basic usage) via Google Analytics on the Firebase web app — not for advertising
We do not use this technical data to build advertising profiles.
2. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Create and manage your account and team memberships
- Provide scoring, stats, leaderboards (including a public spectator board), and announcements
- Show you on the hole map (with location permission)
- Deliver chat messages and media you send
- Send push notifications you have opted into
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve Beehive Open
- Respond to support and privacy requests
- Comply with law and enforce our terms
3. How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
We share information only as needed to run Beehive Open:
Other players and organizers
Depending on the event setup, your name, team, scores, stats, who last edited a score, chat messages, and media you post may be visible to other participants or organizers in that event.
Public spectator board
The public leaderboard at beehiveopen.com/board does not require a login. Anyone with that link can see names, teams, handicaps, and live scores for the event. Chat, photos, location, and who last edited a score are not shown on that page.
Service providers
We use trusted vendors who process data on our behalf under contractual obligations, including:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database/hosting, Cloud Storage (chat media), Cloud Messaging (push), Analytics
- Google Maps / Apple MapKit — map display and location-related map features on iOS
- Giphy — GIF search in Chat (the terms you type in that tray). Giphy’s own privacy policy applies to those searches.
These providers process data according to their own privacy policies and our configuration of their services.
Legal and safety
We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of AMP Media, users, or others.
Business transfers
If AMP Media is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy’s protections (or a successor policy we will notify you about).
4. Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above:
- Account and profile data — while your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward if needed for support, disputes, or legal obligations
- Scores, stats, and event history — for the life of the relevant event/season records unless you request deletion earlier where feasible
- Chat text and media — for the life of the conversation/event unless removed by you or an organizer, or deleted upon a verified account-deletion request
- Location data — used in real time for the map; we do not sell location history and do not retain precise location longer than needed to provide the map feature and operate the service securely
- Push tokens — while notifications remain enabled on that device
When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it. Backups may retain residual copies for a limited time.
5. Your choices and rights
- Permissions (iOS): You control Location, Photos/Camera, and Notifications in Settings → Beehive Open.
- Account / data deletion: Email anders@ampmedia.co with the subject line Data Deletion Request. We will verify the request and delete or de-identify personal data we control, except where we must retain limited records for legal or security reasons.
- Access / correction: Contact us at the same address to request access to or correction of your account information.
- Opt out of marketing: Beehive Open is built for event operations (scoring, chat, announcements). If we ever send optional marketing emails, we will provide an unsubscribe path. Transactional/event messages and push alerts you enabled are not marketing.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws. Contact us to exercise them.
6. Children’s privacy
Beehive Open is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information (including encryption in transit where supported by our providers, and access controls on Firebase and related systems). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use a strong password and protect your device.
8. International processing
AMP Media is based in the United States. Our service providers (including Firebase / Google) may process data in the United States and other countries. By using Beehive Open, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in these locations.
9. Third-party links and services
The app may link to third-party sites or rely on map/platform services we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date at the public URL where this policy is hosted (for example, beehiveopen.com/privacy). Material changes may also be called out in the app or by email when appropriate. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
